Pictured here is the trek route to the Holy town of Kedarnath (where a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is situated). As I was travelling alone I befriended this elderly gentleman who was travelling alone as well. He is a retired Govt. of India employee and a devout follower of Lord Shiva. At that time he was 67 years old and since his retirement at the age of 60 he had visited this Holy shrine on all these seven years. He had high BP and serious problem with his knees but nothing would stop him from making this arduous 14 km trek every year.
When Kedarnath and its adjoining area was totally destroyed and thousands of devotees were killed by a huge flash flood in June'2013, the first thought that came to my mind was about this gentleman whom I met on my trip. I hope he was not there on that fateful night.
Thanks for having a look.

After watching your pic, i am recalling my memories of 2005 when I had been to Kedarnath. Very steep tracking route. In the last few kilometers my body was so tired. But with chanting of Om Namah Shivay I go through the steep tracking.
Nice pic having nice detail. I like it.
Thanks for recalling my memories.

Un bon courage de cet homme aux jambes abimées, un chemin pas des plus facile a parcourir, bon POV avec la rivière sauvage, une note intéressante et triste, j'espère que ce monsieur grimpe encore aujourd'hui ce chemin!!!

That is a wonderful picture of the solitary figure walking past the gushing waters. Your excellent note helps us to appreciate the dedication of the gentleman. I have never been to Kedarnath myself but I know the serene beauty and peace of the hills. The included railing on the left forms a beautiful lead.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice evening.

I remember well the disastrous flash flood of last year and your reference to it really sets this photo in a new and ghastly context. However, looking at this as just another photo I have to say that it is a very strong and distinct conmposition of several diagonals all converging near the upper left corner. The man is well placed walking into the picture along one of the diagonals. There is certainly a lot of grey, but the bushes across the falls and the red details of the fences add nice spots of colour.

so it turns out this beautiful trail is very dangerous due to possible floods...But it looks so wonderful taking an uphill climb along such beautiful streams rushing down!
Thanks for interesting info and a lovely shot. I hope your own knees are ok after the climb and you have BP of an astranaut:))

Great to see that you are contributing in spite of hectic schedule. This photo is a beauty too, with the flowing waters creating a wonderful environment.
Nice story about the gentleman. And of the fact that many met their watery grave last year.

a nice frame with river Mandakini and the winding uphill of Kedarnath. I just can feel it. Don't know if I could visit it again or not. You composed it superbly with that elderly devotee walking alone. He made your composition lively. Excellent shot. Tfs.

The red details along the fences provide a good part of this picture. The composition with this triangle fron these red parts and the water cascade is very good and the inclusion of the man is perfect.

This must be really a hard walk, I like the stream along the road, but the man is not interested in this stream, well captured with good composition
