Photographer's Note

This is a shot of the River Ganges at 'Har ki Pauri' ghat in the city of Haridwar. Ganges is considered a holy river by the Hindus. Haridwar means 'Gateway to the Lord' and rightly so because Haridwar is the first city on the Indo-Gangetic plain which the Ganges enters after leaving her Himalayan abode.
'Har ki Pauri' which literally means 'footsteps of the Lord' is the most sacred bathing ghat in Haridwar.
This shot is taken just after the Ganga Arati on the ghat. The Arati is a special worship performed in the evening with huge lamps by the side of the river. The devotees after watching over the ritual have not yet departed and they are enjoying the beauty of the fast flowing Ganges.
Thanks for looking.
