Banaras / Benaras or Varanasii is older than tradition itself .....It has nearly 100 ghats with steps leading to the banks of Ganges. Many of the ghats were built when the city was under Maratha control. The Marathas: Shindes (Scindias), Holkars, Bhonsles, and Peshwas stand out as patrons of present-day Varanasi. Most of the ghats are bathing ghats. Two are used as cremation sites - the Manikornika & Harishchandra Ghats are said to absolve all sins of those cremated there. Many ghats are associated with legends or mythologies while many ghats are privately owned. The former Kashi Naresh owns Shivala or Kali ghat. The best way to to enjoy the facinating ghats is by the Morning boat ride on the Ganges across the ghats ......
Varanasi presents a unique combination of physical, metaphysical and supernatural elements. According to the Hindu mythology, Varanasi liberates soul from human body to the ultimate. It is the Ganga Ghats of Varanasi that complement the concept of divinity. Ghats of Ganga are perhaps the holiest spots of Varanasi.
I took this shot after sunrise, yet the morning haze of the river has remained in places.
Moreover, because of the "Monsoons" - the water level was much higher than normal, and hence there is only the tops of some of the submerged temples.

The eternal beauty of the Varanasi ghats is well captured. The morning light on the buildings is pleasantly warm and there are very fine tones of blue turning to purple in the sky.

I believe you also noticed that there is a lot of dust on the lens/image sensor, which spoils the beauty of the ghats you have captured here. Have you got some good images of burning ghats too? Do share............if you have them............they are of immense value to the humanity at large.
Clean your lens now.

So good to see you post again, welcome back
As Gert says so aptly above, eternal beauty is the perfect phrase, as I look at this place and see architecture through history, representing so many elements of society, but of course the most powerful being the religious importance of this places. The Ganges is such a mighty river, with its own soul and a place of such importance to so many, and you capture under this glorious soft golden light adds that heavenly feel to your capture. Beautiful scene, thanks for sharing, and I look forward to sharing many more.
All the best
