Photographer's Note

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th each year across the globe. IWD is about celebrating the vital role women play in their families, communities and countries while recognising that significant barriers to achieving women's economic achievement and gender equality continue to exist in the third world countries in particular. At the heart of every human experience is the desire to survive, prosper and to live without fear, hunger or suffering. To imagine how life could be better and then have the means to change it. Yet, everyday millions of people cannot fulfil their most basic needs, let alone attain their dreams or desires.

You probably won’t see this young woman road worker on TV or on the covers of magazines. Instead, she is one of the many women we meet in markets, on public transport, in the shops, in rural villages, on city streets. They are the everyday human landscape -mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, friends, colleagues- perhaps sometimes overlooked or taken for granted whose daily struggles seldom capture world attention.

I am drawn to this very engaging warm face.
She deserves a much needed break and be with her child from the hardwork by the road side just outside the wall of Taj Mahal. But her eyes show glimpses of determination and the challenges she had probably gone through, the moments of joy filled with hope and pride.

Happy Women’s Day, my today's upload is dedicated to women all over the world and may they be a potential contributor in the development of their own family and communities.

Hello Abmsudi,

I like very much this shot emblematic of International Women's Day. The young mother has a kind and love face with her very young child, a toddler. The colors of the scene are somewhat subdued and especially interesting than just very brilliant colors. You have done a superb job.

India is so diverse so one can not generalize situations, but some of the women there have it as bad as it gets... Even if she is not holidaying, this lady seems quite happy BTW!
Equal salary for equal workload is a basic human right and it is about time women get paid accordingly...

A good contricbution to Women's Day. In many part of the world women are under appreciated and not treated fairly.

This scene is also a bit heart breaking, she seem poor, perhaps begging and trying hard to survive on a day to day basis. Her warm smile is the main part of the composition, but even behind that smile we can see the sadness in her eyes.

Hi Abmdsudi,
I am supposed to fly to New Delhi today but due to flight cancellation by the airline I have to put the trip on hold.
Being sensitive to an important issue is one thing but being able to relate a scene to an issue through the lens requires good eyes and quick response. Here the atmosphere, mood and good technical handling are all able to beautifully and successfully portray your good intention. I still admire that smile despite all the odds. Great shot!!

The child who escorts her is also lovely. It's a photograph which makes it consider that it is an existence which a mother wraps a child in love without reason, even the time of when.

Yes, we can certainly see why you would want to photograph this beautiful woman. Her face is warming and welcoming, but its the colors that attract us immediately, even the child has a colorful arrangement.

this is a marvellous portrait of a courageous young woman, a happy and proud mother, confident in what she can accomplish with her own hands for the benefit of her family. I love her warm and generous smile in spite of her obvious weariness. She's excellently placed in the curve of the tree trunk and her little child clinging to her is so sweet.
