There is not a suitable world in English for Shraddha. The nearest meaning coming to my mind is Offerings.
Well what is Shraddha, and what does it mean?
Shraddha is a religious event in which people pay tribute to their ancestors and thank them for their blessings. It is a religious event in which you can show your feelings to the ancestors.
The days of shraddha are the days of remembrance and Tarpan. The meaning of shraddha in sanskrit is “Shradhaya Yata Kriyata Tat”. It means “something that is offered to our ancestors and saints, who have put so many efforts to safeguard or protect us, for our welfare and worked their whole life for us; we must pay homage and thanks them for each and everything they did for us.

This is a superb close-up executed with good DOF, sharpness and fantastic color management. Simple but also extremely eye-catching post due to beautiful combination of different shapes and tones. Well done. An interesting note submitted. TFS.

A sentiment that should be remembered more often...unfortunately we tend to get too wrapped up in our own lives to remember those before us. This is a nice gesture to commemorate Shradda. Another wonderful example of learning about different cultures and customs through this media, and you've done so in a very respectful and pleasing manner.
The colorful flowers/leaves are undoubtedly the thing that stands out here, but what really catches my eye is the subtle portion of the hand holding this to the forefront...and conveying exactly what I think you've wanted to express with this shot, by offering it forward. Have a great day ahead.

Excellent shot, Rajeev, and thank you for the great note. I am very interested in the ways that various cultures pay tribute to their forebears, and I was not aware of Shraddha. So once again, TE teaches me about our world!
You know I travel some in Mexico, where they have also institutionalized the makings of offerings (in Spanish, "ofrendas") to the souls of the departed. The "Day of the Dead" is one of the 2 or 3 most major holidays in Mexico!
