This pilgrim takes a ritual bath in the sacred pool.
Amritsar is the home to the Harimandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, and is the spiritual and cultural center of the Sikh religion. This important Sikh shrine attracts more visitors than the Taj Mahal in Agra and is the number one destination for non-resident Indians (NRI) in the whole of India.

I am so amazed you do not get more comment for such a beautiful picture. Your time exposure was absolutely right. The size of all these golden lights is perfect andthe man is just blurred enough. I deeply like it. Geraldine

mysterious scene in the mist... the golden glow of the temple, the reflections of the white and yellow lights on the water and your bathing ghost all create a charming scene together... love it a lot...

Hi Steve,
Okay, I was only there during the day and not at night, but I can see what I have missed out on, it is a completely different mood. Here the spiritual atmosphere is thick with the mist and the warm glow from the temple and lights, and the blur movement of the pilgrim bathing in silhoutte completes the feeling. (I think I will have to go back just to be there at night).

A really engaging image Steve but for me the strength and artificial impact of the light to the right is just too much - it feels as if there might be a better picture in here somewhere - nevertheless as Wolfgang said a fascinating picture and so atmospheric and artistic from such a well known and photographed place.
