Photographer’s Note
One of the guards of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. I was amazed by the way the Sikh greeted me at the Golden Temple, offering me accomodation and food like "any other" pilgrim. I obviously made a donation to cover the cost of my stay, but I felt horrible to have a dry (though really hard) bed ton sleep on in the foreigners block while some pilgrims were sleeping in the courtyard on the ground in the cold and the rain. This time in Amritsar was great. Hanging around near the lake for some people watching was pretty interesting, just like the evening ceremony when they take the Holy Book from the temple to a dedicated building, eating at the canteen with everyone, going to the border ceremony in Amritsar, etc... A wonderful memory!
I asked this guard for permission to take a picture of him, but he looked at me only once I had taken the photograph and had already taken my camera down to start looking at it. I hope you'll like it anyways.
