Photographer's Note
I was wondering in between how many night shots there would be on TE of the Golden Temple in Amritsar, putting them together in a theme, I was surprised, not that much ! You can see, in order of posting ...
Here my version: it was a misty night, glooming up all the lights, while people were waiting in line, to visit the Golden Core. After this shot we joined them.
Enjoy

This image is on fire! Very vibrant and full of atmosphere - the ever popular temple provides color to the night time scene.
Good work,
Dave.

hi henk
i certainly feel the same way as others. the temple certainly looks like emitting light on its own. the clarity is superb. i know, you have made it a point to take the reflection as well, but i feel that the water should have been cropped off a bit. the temple should have been on the lower right corner. but even then, its great...

Hi Henk,
The Golden Temple with its Golden Reflection !
Well done. I like this composition with the long line of waiting people in the left half of the picture.
Why so many visitors at night ?

Hi Henk,
First of all, i'd like to thank you for creating that theme. I wasn't aware of this temple, now i see many versions of it and have a chance to compare approaches of other photographers.
It surely deserves a blue hour, and it is interesting to see that most of them are taken in deep black. Is it really so difficult to reach there before the blue hour???
Compositionally, i understand why most of the photos prefer to center the temple, because the left part looks a bit empty, but as an aesthetical observation, the eccentric compo looks better.
The golden glow here (a real result or a touch of pp?) is fantastic, and makes it look different, like the glow of an open-lid treasure chest.
As a tripodless photographer, i bet you pushed up to high iso, resulting in grains, and the grain cleaning activity (if ever done here) gives it a weird look, the top part looking soft, the lower part looking grainy.
To leave those technical blabla's apart, i must say that, this one is again an eye-popper. My eyes popped out of their holes, as i guess, yours did, upon seeing it. Absolutely worth taking and sharing.
Cheers,
Deniz

Nicely composed, Henk and with lovely singing colors. The use of the reflection doubles the impact. Regards kevin

Henk,

Schitterende foto. Bedankt.
Groeten en prettig eind en good nieuw,
John.

Hi Henk, this is a great shot of the Golden temple - it looks as if it is on fire. Your night photo shows another dimension of the temple. This is one of the India's most evocative and atmospheric places, well-captured in this image.

Ryno

The colours & the light are as ever very well balanced.
The reflection is very attractive & I can see how you would have jostled with the crows to get this so clean in your camera!!
Thanks,
Prem.
