Photographer’s Note
The Golden Temple of Amritsar is undoubtedly the most sacred site of worship for the Sikhs. It was originally built as a place of worship for both men and women from ALL religions to come and worship God equally.
I was fortunate to visit the Temple on the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh, who was the last human Sikh Guru and also declared the Guru Granth Sahib (the holy scripture of Sikhism) as the next permanent Sikh Guru - Wikipedia. There was much celebration that day including a colourful parade outside the Temple complex.
This photo captures the daily march of pilgrims from all religions on their journey down the red carpet, around the lake towards the Harmandir Sahib or Golden Temple.
