Photographer’s Note
The first snap I took at Srinagar when I reached there at night. It was a full moon day and I found a mast radiator some distance above my eyes. A red light from the antenna was watching the full moon. Nice to capture my first night shot.

Hello Anindya,
I have a set of suggestions here (pertaining to night photography). Try metering directly on the disk of the moon - that way, you'll get details on the face. Also buy one of those absolutely indispensable yet inexpensive remote IR shutter triggers. Set the camera on bulb exposure, and run a 5 min exposure on a moonlit scene. Although the moon itself will be washed out, you'll be surprised at the colors present at night...
If you do something like that, remember to try it far from kolkata's immense light pollution. I believe it's really easy to capture the milky way out in birbhum (and other dry parts of bengal).
But I understand all that can't be done on the first night in srinagar, so...
