Photographer’s Note
Thiksey, Leh-Ladakh - altitude 3400 m
View of the Indus Valley from the rooftop of Thiksey Gompa. I captured this shot because there was interesting contrast between the green of the Indus River and the mountain desert. A road along edge of green is the Leh-Manali Highway. Heading for Leh through Shey seen in the left of the screen.

Well a definite increase in 900metres...........what I mean is...you clicked this shot at 3400 metres where as I clciked a shot at about 2500metres....whcih I posted today.
Your bird's eye view is appreciated. The contrast of the green with the barren and rought mountain ranges generates a lot of interst, but the serpentine road circumfrencing the green is worth watching.
Yuva, you makke my mind to visit this place of my own country.

Rajeev

Hello Hisashi,
From my point of view, this photo is one of your best one regarding your serie on Leh valley. The framing is good and there is this strong difference between the green of the culture and the nothing of the mountain, separated by the road.
Moreover, the clouds in the background are providing a nice bonus for the ambiance.

Hola Hisashi,
As you say in your note, the eye catcher here is that strong contrast between both areas and the very nice shape of the road that goes all through the image up to the horizon line and the fine clouded sky. Very good POV, DOF and sharpness too. Bravo!

Hello Hisashi,
Amazing contrasts, very interesting. I must have seen this view myself but I can't recall it. Maybe the contrasts are less dramatic in the autumn. This reminds me of the Nile valley in Egypt where there is also a sharp border between the green, irrigated area and the desert.
Thanks for sharing,
Gert

Namaste Hisashi,
I forst wondered if you had been flying in a balloon to take this view, after reading the note I understand, the view must have been striking from up there, here the sharp limit between the oasis and the desertic surroundings is spectacular and well marked by the good contrast of your image.
Have a nice day JY

Hisashi,
An excellent shot from your high vantage point - almost a low flying plane!
The border of the irrigated world - at the moment!

Hello Hisashi,
the beautiful light and the clouds playing have created a beautiful 3D effect over the mountains in the bg, with the green of the vegetation in the fg giving a great contrast. Quality is simply excellent throughout with wonderful colours, great sharpness and great overall quality. A ver nice picture to look at, my congratulations.

Hi Hisashi,
Waw - what a landscape !! Simply superb.Strong and dominant difference in contrast with the green and the rugged valley. The serpentine road has added another contrast clearly seperating btween the green and the brown.Lovely textures in the field as well. I just feel, that had there been no textures in the green valley, would the composition look as gorgeous as this?Don't know - but simply love this shot.
Greetings,
Dhurjati

Hi Hisashi, I really enjoy your India travelogue. The contrast between the green valley and the dry desert is very strikingly rendered. The curves formed by the highway and the strips of trees make the viewing experience very dynamic and ofcourse the definition is again excellent. You do just to this magnificent landscape.
Have a nice weekend,
Bert

The curve of the road is beautiful on this picture and divides the fertile land from the mountain desert. From a high POV this is a fantastic thing to see. Ladakh has wonderful landscapes. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Hisashi,
Once again, the wide angle gives you a beautiful perspective.
The composition is great and built very carefuly with the separation beetween the sand and the green part starting just at the lower corner of the image.
Nice management of the light and good rendering of the sky thanks to the polarizer.
Have a nice evening.
