Photographer’s Note
Thiksey, Leh-Ladakh - altitude 3400 m
Thiksey Gompa.
The opposite bank of the Indus river is covered with the storm, whereas the sun poured down its light upon the gompa this side, it's in only 30 minutes after the last photo.
I heard that here Ladakh is a high altitude desert as the Himalayas create a rain shadow, however this year i had visited often rained.
I also handed some photos of the novice monks taken by TE member Eric LE PARC (eleparc).

This is a great photo with a lot of depth. I love the clouds.
However I think I would have tried to recover some highlights as the buildings on the right lack a little detail. But that's my opinion.
Great photo.
Thanks

Hi Hisashi,
Images with contrast between sunny and cloud covered parts are often stunning, but from your angle, it's even more dramatic.
I like how you have used the façade of the gompa, not in a descriptive way - if it would have been shot from the front - but as a leading line towards the disconcerting clouds. This way of presenting the elements is more suggestive than factual, more interesting and richer than just a plain view. It's original and you took full advantage of the meteorological situation to create a singular image.
Ciao!

Bonjour Hisashi,
Wonderful landscape using a lot and nicely the storm light. The difference of lightning between teh foreground and the background is huge and brings a lot of attraction looking to this photo.
When I visited, the light was flat so that I took only photo from inside, especially the giant Buddha.
Very well done,
Yves.

Contrast between the white walls and the black of the sky before the storm is seizing.
I like also the composition which lets to us discover the plain under its green color.

Nicely captured landscape with the drama created by descending rain and a shadow chase.
So much so detailed in one!

Hello Hisashi.
A very dramatic shot, with the contrast of the well lit buildings and that incredibly dark sky. The river itself seems to be half in shade and half in light. It's a really dynamic and powerful shot. Well done.

A typical ladakhi mood and view. The extrem light contrast is striking and makes the compo really strong. Well framed too.
