Photographer’s Note
'Tough as nails' at the colorful Phyang-Tse-Dhup ceremony about 17km from Leh. Still open, still welcoming - a fine day trip from Leh. No PP on the background - lucky DOF.
A Provia 100 slide scanned on a Canon FS4000 scanner and developed in CS2.

I an always tell when you're paired up with the peerless 2-70 (what a heavy sucker it is too!) Marvelous demonstration of just what that baby can do here, with film yet! Top class framing, color and "feel".
Best,
Francis

Hi, Looking through your gallery I see many great shots with composition that effectively focuses the viewer attention on the main subject, whilst providing other intersting elements that always add to the "story" without becoming noise. You've done it again! Did you mean that the DOF was not by choice as you didn't have enough light to use a smaller apperture? cheers, Steve

Excellent shot with a beautiful expression captured. I like the effect of the motion on the prayer wheel and the background is just perfect.

A lovely portrait of this man praying: I like the mix of colours created by the colourful clothes of the person together with the wheel he is spinning. A lot of details make this shot really interesting.
Well done. Thanks for sharing

I imagine you were shooting wide open at f2.8, but even so I would have preferred a shallower depth of field to further defocus the background. That probably wasn't possible though.
Apart from that, this is a great shot; well balanced composition and the perfect shutter speed to capture a hint of movement in the prayer wheel.
I find that purple blob at the bottom of the frame a little distracting, but it doesn't disturb all that much.
Good work Caleb.
Cheers,
Ben

Great picture. The way you capture people, the mood they are in and the details of the region the are living in is really special Caleb.

This is wonderful Caleb! I keep on coming back to her lovely face with the wrinkles and her friendly eyes and expression, het grey hair and her white teeth. I love her hand as well, holding the prayer mill.
A fav for me.

Hello, Caleb--
Nice work here, you exposed very well to emphasize the person in the shadows without blowing out the highlights, and the composition is great, filling the whole frame with the foreground figure, but keeping a meaningful bokeh, also. It's a nice expression, as well, proud, upright, but maybe with a little something stuck between the teeth that just won't come out.
Thanks!
