Photographer’s Note
Pahalgam, at an altitude of 2400 meters in Kashmir, has long been the preserve of nomadic shepherds. Its rugged charm has remained unspoilt over the years.
Pahalgam is famous for its scenic beauty and is the jewel of the picturesque Liddar valley located in the high Himalayas. It provides an ideal setting for activities like hiking, trekking, and fishing. Pahalgam, serves as the base camp for many expeditions and excursions such as Kolahari Glacier, Sheshnag, Sonasar, Harwag and the Amarnath Yatra. Pristine camping grounds under the shadow of tall pines trees are delightful.
Pahalgam provides a panoramic view of the mighty Himalayan range with its lush green pine forests and snow-capped peaks. The natural beauty of Pahalgam and the verdant Liddar valley attracts travellers from all over the globe.

Hello Sabyasachi,
Lovely composition... So peaceful scenery!
Strong foreground interest in your wolly friends, topped by an awesome blue sky framing the snow covered mountains...
That lonesome tree does a lot of good to the feeling of depth!

Excellent composition with this shot Sabyasachi, as your attention naturally drifts into the photo from the sheep at the front to the tree and then on to the mountains.

Certely, is a very beautiful postcard. I remember my trip for Kashmir, it was wonderful, it is a beautiful place that there does not deserve the terrorist harassment that he endures.
Perhaps do these sheeps produce the famous wool of Kashmir, don't you think?.

Rich in everything , in colour, composition and text you provided. I have altogether different memories of Pahalgam. The place was crowded with at leat 2000 vehicles and 10000+ visitors(devtees)returning from Amartnath. The place was virtually littered everywere. There was nothing to eat and nothing to drink. The roads were blocked due to heavy land slidding and fear of terrorist aatcks in the year 1995. People used to drink the water, take bath and make necessary calls from the same stream flowing nearby. Pahalgram had been converted to ganda gram. It was the gignatic effort of the Army that the roads were cleared Karvan could move after 4 days.
It gives me pleasure to see the real picture of Pahalgam.

Bonjour Sabyasachi,
Magnifique paysage superbement composé. Les moutons du premier plan sont bien disposés dans l'image, l'arbre qui se découpe dans le ciel. Les couleurs et la netteté parfaite.

beautiful landscape-shot, Sabyasachi! :-)
superb composition and combination of the
grazing sheep in front and in the back, the
single tall green tree on the left and the
woods in the back in front of the amazing
mountains covered in snow topped by a clear
blue sky...this is so nice and everything
is so clear and sharp.

In the summer of 1988 when I visited this place for the first and last time, it was choc-a-bloc with tourists, Sabyasachi. That, ironically, was the most productive year for J&K tourism before the troubles began in the valley in 1989. (I had a close friend working as a senior bureaucrat in the tourism department at that time who knew his statistics!) Quite a few Bollywood units were busy shooting in Pahalgam and it was really fun watching them at work.
It is good tourists are returning to Kashmir now. October must have been really great there with clear blue skies and nature at its best in this real paradise on earth. Your very well composed picture here shows that.
Thanks for sharing it.

Bonjour,
une scène que j'apprécie beaucoup, j'adore les animaux, je ne me lasse jamais de les observer.
Super bien cadré, juste la neige un peu surexposée.
Best regards.

Bonjour Sabyasachi
An excellent perspective because of different locations of sheeps from camera lens.
You placed the tree on a tiers line for an ideal composition.
Gorgeous landscape!

Nice composition, enhancing the depth of this image. I like the sequence of sheep, more sheep, tree, more trees, and mountains in the distance.

Dear Sabyasachi
One of your few shots without any human interest, but a rich one nonetheless. Vertical framing is perfect for this shot with the sheep in the FG. The snow capped peak in the BG has lost details thanks to the sun, but that's a minor point.
Best Wishes
Angshuman
