Photographer’s Note
The Suru and Zangskar valleys form a great trough at the foot of the northern, heavily glaciated flank of the Himalayas, while opposite rise the mountains of the Zanskar range. The Suru River forms the western and northern boundary of the Zanskar range. The Suru, after receiving the combined waters of the Dras and Shingo Rivers a short distance north of Kargil, joins the Indus at Marol in Baltistan, which is now on the Pakistan side of the Line of Control.
Although the picture is tilted I couldn't afford to straighten it as I was loosing lot of detail while doing that. So I left it as it was. One might say why take a tilted picture at all in first place and then try to correct it. I would say since most of the pictures I had taken were from a moving vehicle I had to forgo the luxury of a suitable POV. ;)

Hi Neelima,
Among all your shots I like this one very much. Really nice contrast & sharpness also POV. Though you've said that it is tilted, but I don't think it makes much difference. Rather I would suggest to keep little bit more sky(complete the rocky peak). TFS

Hello Neelima
I saw a picture of this place in a Bengali travel magazine a few days back! One of the places I have to go sometime. Sometimes the tilt helps in expanding the frame, but then a tilted horizon is something else :-)...but I understand the limitations under which you took this shot. I did try to straighten as well, but as you said lots of details are getting lost in the process. The colour of the Suru river is nice. One can get an idea of the scale from the small jeep way down below

HI Neelima,
That's a very nice point of view overlooking this high altitude region (I gather it from the absence of flora, how high have you been here ?). The terrain lines dynamize the image and the lake adds that nice emerald touch of color. In this situation you might consider a slightly wider angle in order not to cut the mountain top. If you were at the wide lens end already, you could have taken several vertical slightly overlapping images (3 would be good here) and assemble them together using specialized software like autostitch.
Have a nice day jY

Wow what a wanderful place! The emerala eye looking at us. Kashmir is great. Unfortunately I have never been there - maybe tomorrow? :)

Even that tiltness is adding more weight on the subject. Its an xcellent juxtaposition of landscapes. Good color & the tiny human made car endorses the massiveness of our nature...
Keep posting !!! - anindya
