Photographer’s Note
Picture: Looking out from Room 11 at the HPTDC Geetanjali in Dalhousie.
---------------------------------------------------------
Dalhousie is one of the oldest hill stations in India. Originally established by the British, who forbade Indians to enter the town, Dalhousie witnessed major confrontations between the British and the Indian mutineers during the Revolt of 1857. Dalhousie remains a cantonment area and a quiet, picturesque hill station dotted with old British-era buildings and newer constructions. The lush green valley looks out to the Pir Panjal mountain range; and at night, the lights from the valley below and the hills surrounding it brings back memories of a lost fairy-tale.
Dalhousie is approx. 8 hours by train + 2.5 hours by cab from Delhi.
