Kamru Fort is one of the oldest Fort in Himachal. It is located in Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh. Distance of 2-km from Sangla, lies this wonderful place, the tower-like fort of Kamru. The Sangla Valley is a breathtaking beauty in itself, with a blaze of saffron trees and cold snowmelt. Here, the river Bapsa flows to meet the churning torrent of the Sutlej River at Karcham. An exotic Image of Lord Buddha on the Fort's Main Gate and an Image of Kamkhya Devi are the unique features of this fort. The image of Kamkhya Devi, supposed to have been brought from Guwahati, Assam, is installed on the third floor (entry was prohibited at the time when we visited the fort). There is also a 15th century shrine of Lord Badrinath, which hosts a light every three years.
The Kamru fort is a quiet sentinel, located at a fearsome altitude of 2,600 m above the sea level. The nature shows off its existence and the splendor of this land. Along its sides rise snow clad mountains, thick forests of deodar trees, and lush green and richly fruited orchards. The fort seems like being placed over packing of dressed stone that acts like a pedestal for an exalted piece of art. The tower possesses an elegant wooden balcony. We reached at the foothills of Kamru fort by afternoon, after a daylong siesta at Chitkul . It was a pleasant climb with wide cemented stairs reaching up to the fort. However to our dismay we found the doors to be closed once at the entrance. Luckily one of the priests was nearby and he opened the door for us and also provided us with a personalized guided tour of the temple/fort. If you have been to this part of the world or plan to, I am sure one thing that would strike you the most is the friendliness and simplicity of the locals and I believe that itís the people that you meet along the way who make the journey more interesting.

A bit of a departure from your recent landscapes, Anupam, and a really nice one. The black and white treatment works wonders here, creating a stark image and adding a lot of drama to the scene. Really nice light, and the mountains peeking out at right connect it to your recent work well.

Excellent composition. This B/W is so evocative. The tone is soft and enhances the simplicity of the images in the photograph. You have kept out the tall pagoda like castle of the Sangla kings - with just a small portion of it on the left of the photograph. I think that is really good composition. Most of us would have tried to accomodate that and disturbed our focus on this splendid hut and the stone-brick construction.
Thanks for sharing.

I liked this version more than the original coloured version...however you've shown less of the fort here! The PP work is well done converting to B&W

nice use of the eye fish lens here. I like the point of view you choose and the option for black and white giving a mystic mood.

A very spooky, haunting image. The post-processing is excellent and you chose the B&W well. I like the low POV, the good sharpness and definition.
