The Village of Kye or Ki, just below the magnificent Kye Monastery. As in the region of Spiti, the majority of the population of Kye is of Tibetan origin.
In the night before there had been snow fall. The roads & crevices of the mountains bore testimony of this snow. The sky was dull & it was chilly cold. But as the day wore on, the snow melted, blue skies emerged. Returning from Kye Monastery we were mobbed by a group of girls from the village. Actually they were all interested about my daughter who was of their same age. Communication was scant because of language barrier but they were still able to effectively communicate the joy they felt seeing their city bred kin!
All of them wanted to have their pictures taken....how could I refuse the flowers of innocence?

Beau cadrage de ces trois visages avec un bon jeu sur la profondeur de champ isolant le visage de gauche.

Lovely look and smile full of innocence and nice low-angle shot. I like the sharpness management with the blur on the gril behing. Well done
smarcell (19965) 2011-11-03 2:56
Nice portrait, with a good management of the depth of field. The out of focus increases with the distance from the lens, but the smiles are still visible.
A very good technique, conggratulations

Interesting use of dof to bring the child on the left to the fg. The stronger the smile, the less focus they need, it seems.
SnapRJW (31629) 2011-11-03 4:18
Hello Angshu - I like this trio of faces and your DOF makes for a more interesting image. What really impresses me is your POV. Most often when we look at children we look down, here you look up to them and they down on you! Interesting. A lovely shot. best regards Rosemary

A good portrait of the children in the foreground. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the phisionomy of the face of the children. The afternoon light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Absolutely love this portrait. You have composed this in a manner that I would not have thought to attempt myself. The girl in the foreground sharp and gradually blurring of the two girls in the background is brilliant and having them situated this way is well done. Great expressions on the girls faces as well. Beautiful work!

another one of your cool, colorful portraits. I like the short depth of field and the positioning of those three girls in the frame for a tight ensemble.

Hi dear Angshu,
Lovely view of these kids. Of course, you couldn't refuse to make them some photos. Excellent triple portrait. They look more like the children from Mongolia mayne rather than India. So you were there with your daughter?? How old is she?
Graal (102884) 2011-11-04 0:21
nice portraits of childs and well comment in note. Fine DOF and natural colours also. The first child is a little shy smile. Good photowork.
Have a nice day.

Bonjour, cher ami Angshu,
J'aime ces trois portraits de ces jeunes enfants. Le regard de chacun exprime un étonnement et une certaine joie de vivre.
Le choix du cadrage (mise au point) est également bien réalisé.
mayjayne (5968) 2011-11-04 4:32
It seems that the children's smiles always works, doesn't it? :) A technique on DOF learnt from this composition, which I shall keep in mind !
sacimar (26205) 2011-11-04 6:26

Superb use of a shallow dof with perfect sharpness on the girl at left. Well composed using the rule of 3. Nice colour too. Tfs!

excellent portrait with the little children to looks so cute and charmy at this high altitude. As i see the falling snow made the left child to wear her head cover.Informative your note too.
holmertz (52722) 2011-11-06 8:21
Lovely kids. Although the sharpness is only on one of them we see enough of the others' features. Their innocent smiles cut through the blur. The composition is interesting. Their faces form a triangle vertically and sort of threedimensionally.
nobuikehonda (3848) 2011-11-06 9:30
Hello dear Angshuman-san,
What a pleasure it is to comment on this image. Their genuine expression on their faces is very naturally captured. Were they very curious? The low POV is certainly your style. They were naturally attracted by your presence. They are not smiling but they are smiling in their minds. The unspoiled expression is so rewarding. I love the way you have opened the lens in order to create a very thin DOF. A very slight difference of their expression gives so much to be seen. It is a very successful triple portrait.
With my very best and warm regards,
Have very creative week ahead, Angshuman-san
Longroute (19396) 2011-11-07 1:51
Splendid multiple portrait depicting these lovely and candid children. I like the focus on the left one while the other two are slightly blurred so to show their distance. You managed quite well the strong light, obtaining fine and intense colours which make the image very alive. I like their expressions and the beautiful details of their dresses. A real pleasure and a masterpiece in this genre.

Back from a long week in Brittany, I browse what I missed in your gallery
I choose this one of these 3 kids with 3 different attitudes and postures and 3 different grounds and degrees of sharpness. Great use of the selective DOF here
A very tender shot
have a nice WE
All the best

Namaste, my friend Angshuman,
the freshness and the naturalness of this scene is fantastic, it is a delicious portrait of the girl who is at the left side of the framing, in an image with a great sharpness, while the other two little ladies stay a bit out of focus, in order to give a depth of image that works very well in this composition.
The looks and the smiles of these three lovely girls are a great success in the photo.
A very beautiful work.
Waylim (25502) 2011-11-14 18:27
Beautiful tripple portrait shot of the girls, I like how you have them at three different layer and distance as it gets softer focus as with each of the girl at different distance. It works out well, with the composition.

Ovo je predivan grupni portret devojčica.
Savrena kompozicija sa detetom u prednjem planu na kome je fokus.

Very much enjoyed the way you moved down and close to their low level to capture these gorgeous young girls. Surely great encounters in this beautiful part of India.
The pyramid composition is wonderful with such nice selective focusing as well, a lovely moment well caught. The range of emotion in the faces of these adorable innocent is astounding. Nice happy smiles and expressions in the background and they appear to enjoy each other's company - the smiles look natural and unforced. What a lovely trio of models you have here. But her dimpled smile, the wary expression, intensity and yet calm appraising look draw the eyes in and her green provides such great contrasting color. The light and and toning you have managed is superb. Truly a very charming and engaging image, a tender moment you have caught it beautifully. Children are frequently able to smile at the most unimanigable situations, I applaud your efforts. Congrats.
