Kaza is situated on the left bank of River Spiti, it is presently the headquarters of Spiti sub-division, perched at an elevation of 3,740 meters (12,300 ft) above mean sea level, is the largest township and commercial center of the valley and as is typical of the valley - its largely Tibetan. The town is overlooked by steep ridges that are permanently covered with snow on their top.
The Sakya Tenggyu Monastery of Kaza is new - inagurated by the Dalai Lama in July 2009 – compare it with the ancient monasteries of Dhankhar & Kye that are on either side of this small town. (Kye is about 11Km upstream, while Dhankhar is around 15 Km the other way). The newer building which greets visitors today stands where the former monastery, known as Tenggyud Lhundrup Choekhor Ling, existed for 35 years.
Kaza Gompa (Monastery) is one of the two Sa-kya-pa Buddhist sect monasteries in Spiti. In fact its a part of the other monastery located at Komik.
The Monastery is quite close to the Spiti River & one evening as I was walking back from the river bank along the avenue lined with yellow leaved Deodars, the monastery with its phantasmagoria of colours & crisp Buddhist architecture together with the sun drenched yellow deodars created an amazing luminescence against the backdrop of the arid brown treeless Spiti mountains.

Good morning Angshu,
Great management of light and shade. I like the contrast between the sunlit spring trees and the big blue cliff situated in the shade.
Good composition with the tree-bordered lane leading the eye to the monastery .
Thanks for sharing.

Don't know if I'd be able to breathe at such a high altitude, although I have been to 10,000 feet above sea level in China, & survived, by just taking it easy. Good sharpness & a marvellous blue sky. Excellent linear perspective with the road. Tfs

This is a very nice composition according to the "rule of thirds". The dark mountainside towers dramatically over the monastery. The trees line the road nicely and give depth to the composition. The colours are well saturated and the contrasts are very attractive.

This is such a beautiful photo, with the gorgeous light spilling into what looks like a canyon town! The yellow leaves catching this light is wonderful, and the architecture is fascinating. Very well done! A very magnetic photo! Warm regards,

Hello dear Angshuman-san,
The overall tone of the colours is so amazingly warm. I especially like the sunlight reflected on the trees creating a 3D effect in your image. It works particularly well against the cold blue tone of the rocky mountain in the ultimate background. With the path, our eyes naturally travel to our destination, the monastery. We tend to see this image in terms of left side and right side. But the wall-like presence of the mountain in the BG is so powerful and is acting like a final organizing device. The vertical format is another element which serves a very effective means to organize the entire composition. I love the image.
With my very best wishes,
Have a great day, Angshuman-san

nice the view of the narrow Avenue leading on the Monastery, that is found at the roots of the Mt.I like the falling light on the foreground, as contrast with the shadow areas on the backdrop.

Vrlo interesantan i dobar tekst o mestu i manastiru ...
Very interesting and good article on the place and monastery ...
Very nice view on the next row of trees and mountain monastery, beautiful images.
Good shot with shadows and light that highlighted the beauty of the place, good perspective and nice color display.
All the best in the new week, which has begun.

Great perspective of hte street with the high mountains towering us. The style of the rooftops is great, too. Congratulations!
siolaw (37642) 2011-10-31 23:55
The luminosity of the trees and monastery of the lower half of the picture contrasts well with the rocks without direct sunlight of the BG. Vertical framing fits the scenery well.
PS.. Yes in Cambodia, waiting for the Bangkok floods to recede, so I can return!
pierrefonds (52548) 2011-11-01 19:01
The street is sending my eyes toward the temple then toward the mountain which is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the mountain. The early evening light is bringing out the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.
subhendu_bagchi (23549) 2011-11-01 21:56
really an excellent one. Like the light on the trees and on the monastery. It is really superb. The rocky face of the mountain in background is nice. Great composition in vertical. Tfs.
mkamionka (28029) 2011-11-02 15:33
very challenging light but you have turned it to your advantage. Spectacular final effect. I like how well lit foreground is set against the covered in the shade background.
pablominto (53744) 2011-11-03 0:20
The clarity of the air seems to do something for the light and the colours!
A very crisp feeling here, in a fine play with some shady parts...
A pleasant composition, with a fine sense of depth!
marcan44 (6223) 2011-11-04 12:09
Shooting a super-light full of lights and colors.
I like the raking light that strikes trees and houses and the opportunity to read the details even in shadows.
Have a nice w.e.
Kielia (21953) 2011-11-06 8:28
another excellently working POV on this fascinating place. Very interesting perspective. The bright colors make the image very attractive and the light is really wonderful. My compliments!

Namaste, my friend Angshuman,
a really attractive avenue, which you offer us in a nice perspective, under a fantastic light and with a few very aesthetic shades.
I like the beauty of the mountains and of the traditional architecture of the Monastery in background, and its contrast with the houses of the village.
A beautiful work.
annjackman (16471) 2011-11-16 0:27
The light perfectly highlights the avenue and monastery. I like the warm glow on part of the mountain, and the blue sky. This is an interesting subject that has been very well taken.
Best wishes, Ann

I like the contrast light and vertical framing. The place is very beautiful, especially that the mountains in the background look so cold and massive! I wish I could see this with my own eyes..
