The Sakya Monastery at Kaza is new - inagurated by the Dalai Lama in July 2009 - compared to the ancient monasteries of Dhankhar & Kee that surround the small town. (Kee is about 11Km upstream, while Dhankhar is around 14 Km towards Tabo).
Kaza is the Headquarters of the Spiti region and as is typical of the valley - its largely Tibetan.
The Monastery over looks the Spiti River Valley and is a phantasmagoria of colours amidst the arid brown treekess Spiti region.

This is a spectacular and very striking photograph!
The wonderful colours and shapes of the monastery stand out beautifully against the huge distant blue mountains swathed in mist and cloud. Your colours are vibrant and the contrasts strong with perfect exposure and excellent details and sharpness.
A very interesting note too.
