Photographer’s Note
The trip from Dalhousie to Khajjiar trip is one that is definitely a mind boggling experience for all the tourists. Dalhousie is a beautiful hill station in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. About 24 km from Dalhousie, is the picturesque plateau of Khajjiar, which is lovingly known as Mini-Switzerland.
The altitude of Dalhousie varies between 1,525 m and 2,378 m while Khajjiar is located at a height of 1951 m. The journey from Dalhousie to Khajjiar by car hardly takes two hours. Going from Dalhausie to Khajjiar is a soothing experience as you drive through the beautiful Bakrota Hills. As you keep on going, after some time, you enter the 'Kalatop Khajjiar Sanctuary' and you also see the beautiful 'Lakkad Mandi'. The whole journey is enjoyable because the road leads you through the magnificent 'Deodar' forests. You can easily notice the deep quietness in the environment which adds to the beautiful experience of the entire journey to Khajjiar. During the journey we encountered beautiful green sceneries on both the sides of the road, sprawled over five hills ranging from 1,600 – 2,400 meters offering breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar mountain ranges.
There is evidence of Terrace farming throughout the route. Himachal Pradesh is a hilly state, but over 93% of the population in the state depend directly upon agriculture which provides direct employment to 71% of its people. The main cereals grown on these terraces are wheat, maize, rice and barley. Cash crops like seed-potato, ginger, vegetables, vegetable seeds, mushrooms, chicory seeds, hops, olives and fig are also grown here, as I understood from the locals.
In the Workshop, the view further to the right, where the mountain ranges in the BG are more visible.

Hi Angshu,
This is better exposed than the previous one from Dalhaousie... and the view is great with these terraced fields spread in the forests. Good colors and textures.

Hello Angshuman. One must open the Thumbnail only, in order to recognize the motive. And then one is astonished admiringly at this culture landscape. It is impressing, as the people put on these terraces. For me this is an instructive documentary photo. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hi Angshumanda,
Lovely shot of the terraced fields!!!Lush greenery is an additional feature that stands out!!I'm happy that you categorised it under 'art work'. These fields really look like sculptures being made by an artist!!

Angshuman,
my first impression seeing this post was that you had a terrible tilt to the left, buta as soon as I looked into the WS this first impression was corrected. Interesting to see how the mountains the very far background have this diagonal movement down to the valley? Curious to see this terrace forming in the middle of a pine forest. Something that seems unique to this area. Usually terraces, at least in my stereotyped vision, are something in tropical regions.

The high point of view is nice, and the terrace fields can be easily seen. However, something bothers me a little here, perhaps the colors which are a bit dark for the trees and a bit pale for the fields and sky... The fields would have deserved more vivid greens in my opinion.
All the best,
Emmanuel

Hi Angshuman
I like the repetition of the terraced rice paddies & the superb high vantage point in this bitds eye view. Good sharpness (maybe even a little too sharp?) and superb colour & composition with good shadow detail & exposure level. Tfs!

Hi Angshuman,
A very interesting work for the great graphism of these terraces in the hill slopes, which look like steps of a few stairs for giants. You have could catch this great geometry of a fantastic way, thanks to a high POV that gives a good sense of depth.
The light and the shades on the landscape work very well, and I like the colors.
It's a nice work, my friend.

Hello Angshu
A spectacular view well presented with the terraces surrounded by the forest under a pleasant light. I agree with Laurent, I also do prefer the exposure of this one than the previous one from Dalhaousie. Colors and framing are good too! Thanks for the WS.
Have a nice day

Olá Angshu, fascinating landscape for my eyes. I was expecting something like this in Laos, but it seems that I was wrong and most of the rice fields were in plain areas on the margins of the Mekong and other small rivers. Love the graphical effect of those terraces appearing bettween the vast areas of pinetrees. Looking at the WS, I wonder if you could have stitched the two, making a panoramic large version.
Friendly regards,

Hi Angshu,
You certainly framed this shot well to emphasize the terraces. The detail almost seems like a staircase to heavan; your note certainly describes the journey as a heavanly trip. The layers of mountains in the WS are a nice bonus to your excellent PP choice.

Splendid view of this astonishing landscape. Your high POV provides a perfect view of thes terraces built at both sides of the mountains. It brings to my mind the title of that film..."How green was my valley"...what a great amount of forests!
Best wishes Angshu
