Coming back from a skiing trip yesterday we encountered a horrific traffic jam...took a snowed up 4X4 side road and came upon this ironsmith making horseshoes for ponies in the vilage.
After almost 20 shots I managed to get this ....the main ironsmith fashioning the horseshoe...his helper wielding a huge hammer (only got the handle here)in complete motion blur....
This is the first of a two part dedication to the "old ironmongery ways" of the hills of Mahasu...
Will upload Part II tomorrow...
Heavenly Himachal...Enjoy :-)

Vijay, very nicely done picture. Worth the effort of 20 shots.. Its soo difficult to get all the things right in 1 go.. and this one turned out perfect. Motion blur (and a good amount) at only the right places. The helper's body/ face is perfectly sharp and focussed. The end result -> Perfect. Cheers. waiting for Part II.

I like this image, surprisingly enough you didn't get a huhge response.. I like the way the ironsmith is on the bottom left and the blurred hand giving speed and color to this image.
My grand-father was an ironsmith too.. So this can explain that.. There was a good one yesterday, i think from ST Petersbourg..

Amazing shot, I like the way his head is so still with his hammer so blurred. Excellent colour and perfect exposure which must have been diffficult.
Heavenly Himachal..oh yes
