Chitkul is around 569 km from the National capital Delhi and 28 km from Sangla. This is the last Indian village on border with China. The road doesn't take you till the actual border,it closes around 90 km before it and then rest of the area is under the control of Indian Paramilitary force ITBP.There are wooden houses turned into hotels that can be found in Chhitkul, these hotels are a bit expensive and most of the tourist prefer to stay at Sangla and make a day trip to this place. While in Chhitkul make sure you carry adequate cash and petrol or diesel for your car as there is no ATM facility or fuel stations in this hilly area. There is also neither a clinic nor any hospital in this area and one has to travel back to Sangla for emergencies.Chitkul is very cold and windy and the road normally closes down around November after the first snowfall.

A fine view of this village perfectly situated on the terrace . Interesting contrast between each side of the valley . Great sharpness and a superb blue sky .

India in your photos seems to have plenty of charm and beauty. I like to see its different face - this one of peace and nature. This landscape is very pretty with all its elements planned into very well working wholeness. The colors are bright and saturated without making them unreal. Good light and sharpness.
Thanks for sharing

Taking full advantage of the clear and clean weather, you have produced a marvelous image of Chitkul. Wonderful pov with the valley and the river in two different layers. Great depth and clarity, not to mention the colors. A very pleasant one with the goats grazing in the fg.

A beautiful mountain landscape with the village located in a more convenient, flatter part of the small valley.
In spring the flow of the river will probably be a lot bigger. I wonder if those lower houses have never been submerged.
Best regards, Paul

The last frontier...I remember a milestone stating Chitkul is one of the highest villages in the Baspa valley and the last village on the old Hindustan-Tibet trade route with a population as 610 & the people here live by farming and practise both Hunduism & Buddhism. Great walk along the Baspa!
