This is the reservoir of the Chamera Dam built over the river Ravi. The dam is built in a geologically unstable area & is surrounded by hills. The site is easily accessible from the Chamba-Pathankot highway. The minimum level of water in the lake is 747 metres and maximum level is 763 metres. No aquatic life exists in the lake at present.

In the crystal clear water there was no trace of the fact that the water was "bereft of power", extracted already by the National Hydel Power Corporation. Most of the power produced is fed into the national grid. In less than 10 years, the nation would have not only recovered the huge cost involved in setting up the project – Rs 20,000 million – but also made a profit. With a lifespan of 100 years, the project would yield power worth billions of rupees.

I had, before this, never seen such blue waters. It was pristine, almost heavenly a beauty that we saw & were enchanted, hypnotised....hence my third post from this place. Boating is an activity which has recently started in this lake & one boat can be seen roughly in the centre.
