Photographer’s Note

Day 2 in our journy to Leh, we reached baralacha-la, amzing place. One wonders as what this place would be in winters. At height of 16,500 feet (one can see the board put up by border road organisation towards the lower right of images)this place actually makes you feel at awe with the beauty of mihjty himalayas.
In ancient times, Baralacha-La was an important part of the trade route as roads from Spiti, Ladakh, Zanskar and Lahaul meet here. On the Northwest lies the Bhaga River while the Chandra flows to the Southeast. Near Baralacha-La is the beautiful emerald lake, Suraj Tal, the source of the Bhaga River
