Brooms at Jantar Mantar Photo

Photographer’s Note

While visiting the ancient astronomical site of Jantar Mantar in the centre of New Delhi I saw these three brooms standing against a wall. The contrast of colours and textures appealed to me and I took several photos.

Hi Joan,
A very attractive composition with these brooms and shadows. The background colour is very good too and that little green leaf is the real bonus!

Hi Joan,

This is a really good shot, I love the simplicity of it and the strength of the orange colour of the wall. The shadows work well too in bringing the foreground and background together. I'm not too sure about the leaf though, personally I find it distracts my eye a little, but I think that is very much a personal thing.

Joan,

This is a great little study, and it's easy to se how your eye wandered this way. When a shot is this straightforward its also demanding of good quality presntation - otherwise it all falls down: A man balancig on a crocodile iself leaping through flaming hoops - OK we can get away with a bit of camera shake, a dodgy crop, etc, etc, but with tis sort of subject eveything has to be just so. Just so it is.

Beware, you are in the territory of master*. But this is an awsome shot. Very creative and thoughtful. No one has used these orange walls more than master*, but you seem to be at par. Great first post. You deserve a grand welcome.

Your eye for beauty in the simple is a treat in your photographs: here, three simple, handmade, bambo brooms with gently curving form and stitching. How lovely.
