After spending two days in hectic pace of maddening crowded city of Delhi (enroute to Rajasthan) and taking in excess of 100 photos, mostly candid shots I kept getting drawn back to this one photo subject which I love, street people-street life, capturing people going about their daily lives and activities. Although it is a great challenge but often find this picture extremely captivating, meaningful and great lessons to learn. Not sure why and doubt many others will like it but something about it that I like, a true record life on human experience and the mix of urban scene with people interacting with their environments and each other.
They are very much part of the scene that color the streetscape and there is nothing like capturing or stealing a moment. So many special things happen day to day, which are just fragments in our lives. I find it interesting to watch people, observe and capture a brief snapshot of their lives. One of the greatest things about a city is that more things are happening, even within a small neighborhood, at any moment than any human can comprehend. Photography allows me to freeze one of those moments and study all of the small dramas that are taking place in urban life and the results are very true to life and worth it.
This shot is about the bad and the ugly that needs no explanations and I deserve the truth! It was taken from some distant away -focused of the face- in a busy and vibrant Gandhi Chowk area not far away from the metro train station.
I let the picture speak to viewers.......

Le genre de visage que l'on oublie pas, un portrait impressionnant et très bien geré techniquement.
Une image bien nette avec un beau flou en arrière plan.

Always enjoying your street scene with superb portraits taken in situation. This blind man seems to come out of the shadow, looking for sun in his face. The blurred background (f 2.8 at the maximal lens lenght) leads of course the viewer eye on the man, well framed.
I fully appreciate your way of phototraphing street scenes, checking in one instant the right composition.
Have a nice WE

Great focus and colour, and truly an excellent character as well. I can relate to your note very well, I love these crowded scenes and the opportunities they present. I wish I could be better with my 50mm lens to focus better - this is crisp and perfectly focused and exposed.
papagolf21 (80932) 2012-11-24 3:16
Une image forte une fois encore. J'approuve votre note d'accompagnement.
Il faut qu'il y ait de la part du photographe une sensibilité particulière pour saisir ce type de portrait.
Une bien belle réussite;

Incredible portrait, your shot is really good; the light, the focus, the colors...impressive. Sometimes, the reality hurts even it is showed so well.

A heart tugging scene accompanied by a compelling note. I feel that you not only photograph people well; you understand and feel for your subjects, hence your pics usually tells us a story that makes us think and feel.
Thank you for sharing all that with us,

Ouch...this is a picture that hurts. Colourful and vibrant, versus a reality of blindness and poverty. I admire your boldness for sharing this one. And - above all - this IS a great picture.
Enjoy your weekend, Abmdsudi. See you around.

I like depth.

this is a truly amazing picture, an aspect of daily life people usually don't want to know and avoid at all costs. But this image, I agree with you, is captivating. The man who in real life is a shadow among the busy passers by, in your photo is portrayed with perfect sharpness among colourful moving "shadows". He looks like (and is, in my opinion) a martyr. The warm light falling on his face and your attention are really touching. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,

Very nice picture, technically perfect but the most important is the message inside.
holmertz (33489) 2012-11-24 11:32
This is a disturbing and painful picture with a lot of beauty. The blind man shows a lot of humble dignity the way you have captured him. His empty eyes seem to be looking for strength from above. There is great beauty in the mlld colours and curves of his clothes and the piece of pink cloth (a bag?). The way he looks isolated from the crowd, by being the only one in full sharpness, makes us focus our attention to him even stronger. The many colours of the blurred crowd also match the blind man's discreet colours very nicely.

unusual portrait here. Poor old man. Good comment in note and photowork.

J'aime votre note, vrai, sensible, comme ce portrait touchant, une expression de tristesse qui se dessine sur son visage que la lumière réchauffe, bon DOF, une belle scéne de vie
marabu61 (6301) 2012-11-25 2:49
a truly wonderful portrait with the sun iluminating the weatherbeaten face of the old man. The background is perfectly out of focus to let us concentrate on the man himself. Beautiful
have a good sunday
Nard (6915) 2012-11-25 4:02
Wonderul picture, I like the light on his face. It seems that he is looking to the light, asking something to the gods. Great shot.
brianmcc (5961) 2012-11-25 4:23
what a sad picture of this old man, it is very moving. you have composed it perfectly, focused well on the subject and thrown the background out of focus. the little hint of sunlight on his face is superb. an excellent image and candid portrait shot.
have a lovely sunday,

Dramatic portrait of this blind man in that crowded place. I like that ray of light on his face. Congratulations!

A really fascinating portrait shot. The light shining only on the mans face is almost heavenly, and yet he himself seems to exude the meaning of a difficult life. LIke you say, a brilliant capture of daily human life, or solitute perhaps. your excellent use of depth of field gives a feeling that even surrounded by people, this man is very alone.
Very thought provoking shat Abmdsudi, thank you.

Hello Abmdsudi ,
What a strong and beautiful portrait !
This is a wonderful composition with the scene from street and the warm colours from the sunset creates a marvelous image.

adramad (32851) 2012-11-25 14:40
A great composition, from the point of view of technical and compositional quality, but to me it is heartbreaking and shocking, many of these images is sadly living on the streets of the big city of India, is a quite hard .. .. and I hope, be a complaint to the company that does so little to diminish the number of people who have nothing.
A great shot ... Which brings me many memories that struck me in my travels to the country. TFS.
Have a nice day.

Hi abmdsudi Dear
Excellent color clarity and sharpness is attractive to me. I love the contrast and color saturation of the image. The portrait is very telling and sad. Very well done.
ACL1978 (6821) 2012-11-26 15:24
The pure emotion on this man's face is perfectly captured by your lens, Abmdsudi. A sad documentary shot to be sure, but one of transcendent beauty in its own way, as pure emotion can often reveal.
mirosu (10128) 2012-11-27 17:51
Marvelous photo in very good (late afternoon?) light wilh outstanding details. Well optimized shallow DOF separates this old man excellently from BG. Very well done.

So many portraits to make in India,,unfortunately this is a the hard reality of the world we are living in and it will always stay like that...
THe rich getting more rich, and the poor doing their work, and like in Europe now, paying ther bills, and fight their wars....
This is strong journalistic work .

Hello dear Abmdsudi
What an impressive, poetic note. You write like English is your first language and you write like a writer. And such a stunning photo. Yes, there is a real mix of beauty and ugliness. Of sadness and strength of the will to survive. The colours are sensational and the depth of field has been judged so expertly. I can't believe that you hid this photo away for 4 years! It's compelling, emotive and a masterpiece. Congratulations, this one will stay with me.
Janusz1974 (2531) 2012-11-29 9:17
Very good composition. The expression on the man's face speaks about the harsh environment she lives in.
I like the nicely blurred background which is making the subject stand out.
clic (13006) 2012-11-29 9:52
The blurred backdrop is quite significant of an handicapped wise man who never could have seen the world of his youth represented by the muted portrait of a kid wearing the yellow shirt.
Many compliments for this incentive to introspection.
josepmarin (57065) 2012-12-05 3:17
this superb image speaks, does not need any comment, is explicit and is perfectly executed.
It is an a bit sad scene, which speaks to us about the misery in the world by means of this man in the middle of the crowded street, in an image with a blurry background who emphasizes the quality of the portrait.
Light and colors are perfectly handled.
A beautiful work, my friend.
macjake (48333) 2012-12-12 7:06
I'm not sure i could really comment on anything that has not already been mentioned :)
what i really do enjoy about the photo most is YOUR passion for it - when you enjoy a photo as much as that, it can be transferred over to the view, and i do feel it.
for sure its a captivating moment with the light striking the poor mans face, and the colorful bg out of focus is excellent.
