Photographer’s Note
The transport of goods, and people, was an important constituent of the economy, even in the days of the Indus-Saraswati civilization. This brilliant craft work shows two bullocks pulling what appears to be a sled, with side shafts to support the load. I would expect this particular method would be most appropriate in sandy areas. It is not as if they were not aware of the wheel, as shown in Harappa III. This photo is from the Harappa Gallery in the National Museum.
