This photo was taken in Old Delhi in India where many poor street children beg on the streets. India has among the largest street kids in the world.
Just after I took photos of these poverty street children this young girl from the group saw me with the camera when the car stop because of the heavy traffic the little girl beggar came up to our window and started begging for money I felt so sad seeing this young girl on the streets begging. She said to me please sir I need money i have baby sister please, she had very sad and worn torn eyes and started crying to me while begging, i almost cried. I felt so horrible that i couldn't give her any money as that was the intrepid tour's conditions not to give money to any beggers and to make a donation when you get home like to street children in India donations and this was at the beginning of our trip so I only had very large note like 500 & 1000 rupee no coins. I just looked at this poor child in the eyes and compassionately said I’m sorry I can’t, I felt horrible that I couldn’t help.
I quickly and put my camera on the side of the window to capture this little girl's sad expressions to capture and document what this young girl and how children's lifes are like living in poverty in India where there is a lot of poverty and has the world’s largest street children living in poverty and begging in the streets.
After reading some articles about child begging that the money doesn’t go towards the child and they are exploited by horrible people who forced these kids to beg and the money they beg for goes towards these people and not the child i can now see that it does make sense not to give money to child beggars as this doesn’t benefit the children who are begging just these people who takes the money for these beggar kids. But i still find it extremely hard not to give anything at all to these poor children and wish i could still help I wish i had some food with me so i could have given her a bit.
