Photographer’s Note
I noticed this guy working alone at the Victoria memorial in Kolkata, just patiently working away.
The memorial is set in several acres of land and offers a peaceful respite from the noisy poluted city.
PP Contrast mask 70%, USM. The original had a lot of haze and high contrast.

The motive and composition works well, but I think the photo looks a bit overexposed with some grain. Interesting daily life pix

Yes, the overexposure and the grain does distract a little, but otherwise this is great. The type of shot I like to see on TE, teaching me something about a country I have never visited.

Nice image Bryan.. I like the wide frame here. It gives spirit to this shot.We can feel how much he has to work.
As for the overexposure, well it doesn't bother me as long I like the picture.

I like the row of leaves, seems to be anarrower where he already has been. Nice perspective and very pleaseant colors. Well seen, Bryan.

nice and poetic image, very rare moment in India when there is almost nobody :-)))

Very interesting daily life scene, Bryan. Good shooting angle and colors, and there seems to be a humbleness to this working guy's posture (and a simplicity to his equipment, I guess). Some minor technical problems have already been mentioned in previous critiques. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Bryan what a beautiful picture. This shot says a lot. Greet composition and nice colors. Typical TE shot. Very well done.

I like the "largeness" of the photo. You have captured the feeling of the area as well as the man. It has a nice feel to it.

It cracks me up, they sweep the dirt one way, someone else comes along sweeps it the other way. The same stuff usually goes back and forth...... or they have a cart, but soon the dust, leaves, etc. are back.... Endless supply of stuff to sweep!!!

This is one guy who has his work, cut out by nature. And with that puny looking handheld bristles for a broom,it is like a scene from Matrix. Just simply futile.
Without him, this perspective would not be so effective, to show the immensity of looking after a major touristic structure. Make you wonder don't you think, why sometimes a major thing, is managed by one small individual.

This lovely photograph is a delight. The photographer overcomes significant challenges in balancing the brightness and haze that are typical in India cities with the shadows in which the man works to eloquently tell us a story about the world of work in this exotic country. The exaggerated width of the photo gives us a sense of the magnitude of the task before this bent over man. This is the India I recall, though as another person notes, it is rare indeed to find settings with so few present. Thanks for sharing!
