The Tobacco Man : This is my last photograph in the Bihar series. Its about a man who sells chewing tobacco.Chewing tobacco or Khainee is being consumed by a majority of people in Bihar including womenfolk.Although the consumption of tobacco is injurious to health, but still a large number of people indulge in smoking and chewing tobacco. In this image you can see the tobacco seller has an improvised tobacco cutter with which he cuts the leaves into fine pieces for sale in little pouches, which cost you 5-10 rupees per pouch.

Hi Farhat, Another picture from the market with a man selling chewing tobacco. I wonder how much the sanitation perspective one is receiving as all the products are on the bared ground. I like the original look of this image with great composition and awesome colours. The bicycles on the BG enhance the sense of the open market feel. Thank very much

hello Farhat, Interesting view. I haven't seen such tobacco seller. I saw how they produce something like cigars in Burma. all smoking is bad for health, but convince about it the heavy smoker! I wonder if chewing is maybe better? Nice portrait of this man posing a bit for you. nice natural street scene from India.
Happy new Year!

Happy New Year
I hope you have a good year with success
Unfortunately, the lives of people in low-income segment, with such things are managed, however, to be harmful to society.
Beautiful view, and with good resolution

Fine capture of this tobacco seller with a very expressive face. I like the vivid colour contrast offered by the covering. Very good daily life composition with lots to see.

Another beauty of a portrait, perfectly composed and with excellent light so that your subject is lit perfect, while his merchandise is under bright direct light. The knife embedded in the tobacco like this is a very good element of the photo, making it seem more raw and giving a great sense for this mans job.
Thanks as always

J'aime beaucoup le fait que tu te sois mis à sa hauteur pour prendre sa photo. Le contre jour place son visage quelque peu dans l'ombre mais les détails sont beaux.

Your series from Muzaffarpur has brought us some interesting photos of life beyond the relatively flashy streets of Calcutta. The legs of people and parts of bicycles surrounding this tobacco salesman gives this photo a strong evidence of authenticity. There is nothing arranged here, just a picture of ordinary life in a place where the ground serves as a market-stall. You established a good eye-contact with the man and he has provided nicely matching colours.

Lep trenutak ...
Dobar snimak i kontrast, lepe boje.
Dobar rad, lepo pokazan duvan covek na pijaci.
Pusenje je velika zavisnost i opasnost za zdravlje.
Imajte lep dan za odmor, sve najbolje.
Beautiful moment ...
Good footage and contrast, beautiful colors.
Good work, nice man shown tobacco on the market.
Smoking is addictive and a great health hazard.
Have a nice day to relax, all the best.

You show today another 'cultural exchange' in your gallery featuring a sympathic character selling fresh-cut poison for the lungs!
His showcase represents quite a cultural difference!
Happy new Year.

If I do not read your note, I would not guess the guy was doing. I really can not tell the difference between cigarette and chewing tobacco. Thanks for showing us a vivid daily life in India.

A superb daily life shot of the tobacco seller with superb sharpness and well managed lighting. I like the low shooting angle at ground level. The sidelight from the left has given relief. Good shadow detail and color saturation. Tfs!

I am astounded by the position the fellow is sitting, it looks as though it should be uncomfortable, but he seems so relaxed.
Anyway, I like the brightly colored spread and shawl. I can see 4 bicycles, the bike must be a favorite mode of transport.
ourania (47018) 2014-01-04 3:27
I like very much the tight framing of this picture as well as the fact that you got to the level of the tobacco man who's sitting on the ground to take his spontaneous portrait. We also get information about the way he works and about the environment that surrounds him. All the information is interesting, textures and colours are strikingly natural and precise. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

Really fine daily life shot that together with a very useful note fits perfectly to TE's theme to learn about the world. Your coposition and framing are really great and as usual you make excellent use of the colours. TFS and have a nice day!
