RESHI, is a new place which I found in the Kalimpong hills. This place is not yet widely publicized because as such there is no hotels or so called views of the mountain.
You can be there to feel the tranquility within the valley with the never-ending sound of Reshi river. I had been there particularly to organize a wilderness camp for the school children. Hence, for us it was perfect. We stayed in tents, cooked our food and bathed in the river.
I donít know if the tourists will like it or not but for the travelers or trotters its almost next to heaven. Especially on a moonlit night. The people are helpful and shy. Basically the place belonged to the lepchas, as they were very shy they moved away from the main land to the slides of the mountain where they can hide and earn there livelihood basically from farming and there lands are now owned by the pradhans and sharmas. Here you get to see the entire mountain used to cultivate rice by step cultivation method.
To get there:
The place is approx 105 kms from Siliguri, 21 kms from Algarah. You can approach Algarah from Kalimpong or Garubathan, as you cross Algarah which is Deorali, means top of the mountain you get two diversions, one goes to Lava the other to Pedong. Take the road to Pedong, cross Pedong and you move towards Reshi river. We camped beside Reshi. As you cross Reshi river you enter Sikkim and the nearest town is Rehnock. You can also come to Reshi via Rangpo, Rehnock. Lake Aritar is very closed to this place. The road which we follow is the famous SILK ROUTE which leads to Reachella Pass in Sikkim.
The left side of the river is West Bengal and the right side is Sikkim.
My next few posts will be of the same place, keep checking.

This is a great view.I love to explore the hidden and offbeat beauties of NB but never came across "Reshi"....The place looks very mystic and moody. Can you just send me the details of this place viz exact location, how to go there and where to stay, altitude etc...

Very nice atmosphere here. The fog is a must and the colour of the sky is beautiful.

It's so nice scenery that you captured in a good way,I think the color saturation is a bit high on the sky,but totally you worked well.

There are many strong images in your gallery but I think that your landscapes are really good. Very simple composition, nice colours and I love that mist hanging in the valley. Very atmospheric shot.

I did not know India is so pretty before I read photos of India in this TrekEarth. I want to go to visit but is the security safe?

this is a nice landscape and it was very well captured by you. Great POV. I like the foggy mountains. Maybe the fact that is not know by most of the people is a good point and it keeps that natural tranquility. Well done!
