Photographer’s Note
Sillery Gaon Welcomes
Gaon = Village.
“Sillery” is a cool mountain village nestled amongst Himalayan hills. The name represents a plant named so, that grows there abundant. It’s only a 4 KM. trek from Pedong which is on the ancient Silk route.
The villagers greeted us with all their warmth and hospitality. It was Dushera (Last day of Durga Puja festival) and we joined them at their village school where they were celebrating the ceremony.
The simple curious faces, those peeped out of the windows were not at all hesitant to my lens or even to the bursting flash, moreover enjoying the charm of being photographed.
I decided to turn my back to the gracious Sikkim hills along with flowing Tista River, to capture the precious smiles on those innocent faces illuminating the deep green Himalayan village. Was my decision worth?
The nearest halt is at Pedongthat is a small hill town under Kalimpong subdivision of Darjeeling district, Pedong is situated at a distance of 21 Kmtrs. east from Kalimpong.

Hello Doc,
absolutely amazing composition..!! both the shots..!! the idea was very good..but not very well executed..!! just look at the shed of the hut with the girls and its overexposed parts and also the outline which is bearing its original bg..at places..!!
Its really a very nice Idea to put two shots in one and give a good effect but has to be done properly..!!
For any photoshop buff a very small mistake in PP hits the eyes hard..!!
Dont mind..!!
Cheers...!!!

Hello Dr.J.
I agree with Indro's views..
Amazing visions from you... and the PP is the only thing that has some problems..
Really , the village image feels the stunning green and atmosphere very well, and look at the heartfelt smiles you got in the women..
LOVELY is it.

Hello Dr. J. !
There are many "Gaons" like those throughout the interior of our country, too.
Your montage was fine and the narrative is interesting!
My best wishes to India and Brazil!
A brazilian hug,

Dear Dr. J.
Nice smiles and beautiful landscape. But the colour of the corner of the house roof seems a little strange.

Hi Bhunia,
I prefer to be frank: it's not that impressing. But it could be... The view is certainly pretty, it must be a dreamy place, with all that green, the forests and the kindness of the people. It's pleasant to see those candid smiles of the women nad I suspect that some close-ups of them would give great photos. The pov isn't really bad, but not very imaginative. It looks like you wanted to show "everything" and that isn't working well. Then there is a slight problem with the sharpness on the women and that strange brightness under the roof, which is rather annoying.
TFS, Regards, José.

Olá Dr. J., it seems that everything is already said here. I actually like the composition and the lovely smiles coming out from that window. The greenny scenery is beautiful, but it's obvious that something strange is happening under that roof and being right in the middle of the image it's dificult not to be disturbed by it. It's also a pitty the white sky, but that I wouldn't mind - maybe I would crop the top a bit. Good note.
Best wishes,
ricardo

Very interesting place J and well presented in this compo. I like how you use here the 2 women and also includes the arriving person in the back. Well disposed photo that goes well to your notes

Hello DrJ,
compo is extra with those two ladies with giant smiles in the foreground. they are kinf of hidden from the man and they look like they are gonna play him a trick or something. That's funny!
I think it was a good idea to combine the two pictures(am I wrong?--it's against the rule here, but I'm not the one who's gonna complain:D ), but I also think it could be done better because it's really easy to see...
So, good idea, beautiful compo, but needs improvements in the execution in my opinion.
Best regards,
Marc

Dear Doctor
Your PP has definitely lifted the shot several notches...I like how you composed the image with the diagonal of the house. While the smiling women is the prime attraction, I also like the surroundings, green, & the man coming in through the gate. A well written note to compliment the photo

Hello Dr J.,
All is said about the technical issues concerning the photograph. I appreciate your effort showing what could be done by doing a WS. Your note is great as usual :) I liked the composition and your creativity very much. Thanks for sharing.
