Malda is the main town of the district of the same name of the Indian state of West Bengal. It lies 347 kilometres north of Kolkata, the state capital. It is famous for the production of Mango and Silk. Malda region is washed by the waves of the rivers Ganges , Mahananda, Fulahar and Kalindri. The Ganges and the Mahananda are often in spate during the Rainy Season and floods wide areas of the district. There is widespread erosion along the banks. Huge chunks of the banks are being swallowed by the rivers and many a village is now no more. This leads to great misery among the people. The government simply prevaricates. It is said by many experts that these rivers behave like these because of the huge Farakka Barrage built on the Ganges further north as per faulty blueprints.
The Mahananda runs by Malda town. It is fairly dry in winter. A large bridge is being built across it. Under one of its pylons where the water is very shallow, I saw this scene of unfortunate cohabitation of man and animal.
Cropped. Contrast pushed up a bit. Slightly saturated.

Very interesting shot. You composed the picture well to fit the message--while the men and beast are "Living Together", the depth provided by the dramatic composition that situates the animal and people in opposite corners gives a sense of seperation that may not only be physical. The only suggestion I have is that it would probably work a little bit better if only the river was showing, rather than a touch of land in the foreground and the far shore in the background. It might be better to keep this as a microchosm of the situation forced by the strange behavior of the Mahananda and the Ganges, and I have proposed a workshop with some slight cropping.

Wonderful capture and composition of this daily life scene. I guess it trasmites well the atmosphere of a normal scene in your country. Good dephness, with the scene in the back and good colours and well balanced lighting.
After I read your intro and seen your interesting gallery, I found not photo without critics, so here I am.
Well done and thanks for sharing it!

I love this one, Salil! Very good framing. Quite a complex scene to take in color, because of all the distracting elements that compete for attention, but your view does well.
