BLACKHEADED ORIOLE (Oriolus xanthornus) Benebou (Bengali name), is probably the brightest bird
that can be found in and around Bengal. The bright yellow colour is the primary colour of the bird,
with a bit of black in head, and in part of wings and chest. The bright colour makes the bird easily
identifiable. On the other hand, this bright colour makes it difficult for the bird to hide, and hence these
birds are somewhat hyper sensitive of human interference of any kind; at the slightest hint ,they quickly
fly off. Naturally, Benebou or Oriole is a difficult bird to photograph, not at all like the Bulbuls, Shaliks,
some Munias, Ghugus etc who donít mind a bit of photography and even may strike a pose if it suits their
fancy. In this regard I have found the Bulbuls to be most appreciative, if you watch the Bulbuls, and they
become aware of that; more often than not they start stylizing!

Thank you.
