I got the inspiration from the MONSOON PICTURE1 and MONSOON PICTURE2 taken by Claude.
I was coming to Bangalore via Kolkata, and lucky enough to get monsoon there. This picture was taken in the outside of the Howrah Railway Station, near the Prepaid Taxi stand. The Yellow Cabs are waiting there and this porter, a bit sad. Porters used to sleep in the same taxi Stand at night, so he may be thinking for some other option for tonight.
The light there was very low so I need to compromise with sharpness and also a bit overexposed area near sky for low shutter speed.

Today India in the news for sad reasons. I love this photo because it has the mood of the mosoon, something that finally is one of the elements that define India. Thanks for sharing. I like the framing too and the regard of the man.

I like the over exposing of sky as it's created a real high shine off the back window of the cab. And the reflections through the water of the road makes for nice effect also..

I like the idea here of a pano landscape city view, a very difficult challenge to compose and all the igrediants are here, perpsective see-through element to the umbrellas using the man very strong spotted placed on the frame and the guiding left yellow caps, a 3-leveled eye-travell in the compo tight to this targets, a perfect example using technique in function of the clear informative aspect telling it's own story, thanks for the inspirational new idea going a big step further here done with a good qualty in color/contrast.

U have captured the mood of monsoon. There are drops of rain visible, two person guarded by umbrella, one person is waiting. The yellow background make the drops visible. Only the expression at the front man is little bit confusing.
Overall a good capture.

The expression on the mans face makes up for the technically issues
The very authentic way he is sitting and the way he is covered with his sarong are very well captured

Good colourful Indian street scene. The expression of the porter is most engaging. So, still in rains in Kolkata.

A nice perspective...
Claude`s is more spirited & yours is very lively, with the portar speaking out about the stranger with camera ( You - Who else!) to the viewwer.
dolin (7369) 2005-11-11 3:41
Another good shot with a perfect framing.
I like the attitude of the man and this angle of shot with this depth on the left.
These yellows cars give a good color touch.

noborders (1010) 2007-06-23 12:43
Excellent composition, and great colours, but I feel pain for the poor squatting guy, who has carefully wrapped his lunghi around his thighs to prevent it from getting wet, he seems to watch with attention something, or just waiting for the rain to calm down...
Great photo anyway, Bravo and TFS,
yashigenx (4) 2012-07-09 1:48
