Here a potter is busy with to build a clay idol of Goddess Lakhmi with paddy straws...Goddess Lakhsmi is the elder daughter of Goddess Durga...I took this snap at Kumortuli,Kolkata...Durga Puja is the famous festival of Bengali, which is held in the month of October.
Kumortuli (also spelt Kumartuli, or the archaic spelling Coomartolly) (Bengali: কুমোরটুলি) is a traditionally potters’ quarter in northern Kolkata (previously known as Calcutta), the capital of the east Indian state of West Bengal. By virtue of their artistic productions these potters have moved from obscurity to prominence. This Kolkata neighbourhood, not only supplies clay idols of Hindu gods and goddesses to barowari pujas in Kolkata and its neighbourhoods, but a number of idols are exported.

really the PP work is brilliant. Like the partial saturation and the contrast between the straws and the craftsman. Your composition is also very good here and the depth is nice. Very well done. Tfs.

This is an unusual image which I like very much. The potter and his creation stand out beautifully against the black background. I found your note very informative. TFS.

Magnificent portrait which the potter has done in the process of elaboration of his work, I love the great sharpness and how stresses on the black background, every detail and textures can be admired. Very good management of light.
Have a nice week.

You made here a great work of partial desaturation. You should have passed time to realize it ! Excellent choice of exposition that permits to see the movement of the arm.
Your copyright signature in the middle of the image spoils a little because it catches the attention. You should remove it or move it in a more discrete place.
Thanks a lot for your precise note.

interesting photo - partly also due to partial desaturation which helps to place the main accent on the idol.. to me, this scene is a bit "exotic" :)
