Photographer's Note

Kolkata crowd is known for its omnipresence - moving in all random directions in Brownian motion. Cultural soirees, Durga Puja, soccer, cricket, book fair everything. Faces smeared with contentment and happiness. Such a vibrant city despite all sweet oddities is hardly found elsewhere. The residents love her, hate her, pick up arguments at the drop of a hat but feel pained to leave her. Even some TE members who are out of this city due to vocational reasons reminisce with nostalgia. I am and was also a part of such crowd for over five decades since my innocent childhood, budding adolescence and defiant youth but never seemed to be ageing .
On the very last day of Kolkata Book Fair, 2010 when the last ray of the sun is shyly fading out, I took this shot to keep it in my memoir so that one year hence I may see it again during Kolkata Book Fair, 2011 ifs and buts notwithstanding.
