This is the first shot from my trip to the Darjeeling district (yes, again!). This shot taken just outside the town of Ghoom, while going to Jorepokhri.
Ghoom means 'sleep', at an altitude of 2407 meters, the everpresent clouds and mist indeed creates a dreamy, sleepy atmosphere here. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway has its highest located railway station here.
A related link:
Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Society.
As we left Ghoom, we were gradually entering a land of clouds, and it is prettey psychological as to find at some point there is no road visible beyond some 10-20 meters!
A shot taken at the same place towards the left into the gorge is here.

We don't see so much landscapes of India, the incredible beauty of this land, you show this pearl with fresh greens fine textured and differentiated along the winding road.
Nicely done Arnab.

A nice picture Arnab,
as Henk said, it's not common to see greenery from India ;o). This one is really nice, I like the foggy atmospher and all this green.
Have a nice day

Ah the hills! The hills! This reminds me of the wonderful Kodai hills. Green and misty. I can understand why one would want to visit a place like this over and over again. Thanks for sharing this Arnab.

I like the mist and the green is...well...nice and deep green, but the shot lacks a focal point for my eyes to rest on. The road does a nice job of taking me into the image, but after a few moments my eyes get bored of the landscape and just wonder off to the Google ads on the left. What you need in shots like this is to have something on the road that will grab AND keep the viewer's attention for longer than a few seconds. Sometimes patience wins...if you had been patient here something might have appeared on the road itself and would have elevated this image into something interesting. As it is now it does not work for me as much as I would want it to.

I like the linear perspective of the road, & the mood & atmosphere enhanced by the mist. Good sharpness & color. Well done!

I used to teach in Darjeeling Government College in 1970. This picture took me back to those days when Darjeeling was pristine. The Queen of the Himalayas is no longer what she was, yet, even the the depredations of the predators have not been able to destroy her totally. Beauty still persists in unexpected corners and turns. One such spots of breathtaking scenes you have catured here.
