last year's winter i was in Gangasagar. I met this SADHU BABA during GANGASAGAR MELA(Fair).
Sagar Island lies on the continental shelf of Bay of Bengal about 100 km (54 nautical miles) south of Kolkata. It belongs to the Republic of India and is governed by the State government of West Bengal. The island is large ó with an area of around 300 km≤. It has 43 villages and a population of over 160,000.
This island is a famous Hindu pilgrim place. Every year on the day of Makar Sankranti (mid of January), hundreds of thousands of Hindus gather to take a holy dip at the confluence of river Ganges and Bay of Bengal and offer puja in the Kapil Muni Temple.
Gangasagar pilgrimage and fair is the second largest congregation of mankind after the holy Kumbha Mela. The latter is observed once in four years at alternate locations in north, central and central-west parts of the country, Gangasagar fair and pilgrimage is held annually on the Sagar Islandís southern tip in the Ganges delta atop the Bay of Bengal. That makes Gangasagar all the more distinctive.
In 2007, about 300,000 pilgrims took the holy dip where the Hooghly meets the Bay of Bengal on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. For the rest of the year about 500,000 people come to the island.Almost five-hundred thousand pilgrims thronged Sagar Island in 2008.

this is a superb photo. It's very spontaneous and natural and the tilt you have given it has made it dynamic and fascinating. Depth and perspective are great and the juxtaposition of the Sadhu Baba in the foreground with the numerous people in the background is very intriguing. I like very much the diagonal of his hair crossing the diagonal of the horizon. The colours are wonderful, I love the way the people stand out against the homogeneous tones of the environment. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,

The askewed angel collected, a bit feel like something unique goe's on, Indrasish - but do not get me wrong, nothing is a disturbance here.
A traditional act collected in very fine manner, the crowd seem to be spread in relatively comfortable intervals from each person.
Nice taken on water's.

Hello Indrasish. A powerful image - my compliments. The composition is excellent, because the really important is the focus or emphasis. Very informative text.
