I came across this village pond surrounded by Palm Trees near my aunt's house. The picture is taken in high summer and water has really gone down in the pond. However, within a few months, when India will be washed by the monsoon rains, this pond will be full to its brim and grow much larger in size. In Bengali, we call such ponds Taal Pukur (Taal means Palms and Pukur means Pond). These ponds are the sources of fresh water to millions of villagers in India.
