DARJEELING HOUSES - IV (IMAGES OF HOUSES FROM DARJEELING - FOURTH IN A SERIES OF 5 IMAGES).
Some tidbits about the Handicrafts from the Darjeeling hills
The culture of the hill people of Darjeeling are uniquely expressed in the exquisite and inimitable artistic handicrafts of the district and their traditional colourful designs, which show marked resemblance to the art of neighbouring Tibet, Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan. Among the artistic crafts, ornaments, trinkets and handlooms are worth mentioning. There is also fine craftsmanship in wood-work and bamboo fret work. While the principal utility products are blankets, woolen knitted garments and woven fabrics, the artistic products are hand-bags, wall panels, fire-screens, folding partitions, Bhutan paintings, cotton shoulder-bags etc. Beautiful curios are made at Darjeeling and Kalimpong on copper plates studded with red and blue stones with engravings of replicas of deities. Wonderful Tankas with paintings depicting the life of Lord Buddha are also available. Woolen carpets are made in a combination of shades in vegetable and synthetic dyes. Bhutia chaddars can be found in beautiful textures. Decorative Nepali khukris are made in Ghoom. Bedroom slippers and rope-sole shoes, jackets, hats, hanzu coats made from handloom cloth and masks are among the many items which attract tourists and curio collectors.

Hello Farhat,
Again a very nice blend of pastel colours for this house. The surroundings are fine but I would find it uncomfortable to live so close to the railway and what I suppose is the main road towards Siliguri. There must be some heavy traffic passing this way.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Farhat, my neighbor today. What a beautiful home - I can see why this one in particular attracted your eye. Bright and beautiful colors, and again with this railroad track right out front! Impressive how it is built into the hillside here. I think perhaps the saturation is a bit high here as there's a slightly unnatural cast especially to the trees in BG, but a beautiful subject nevertheless.

Hi Farhat
Quite a big house, and a colourful one too... The railway track would be a "con" for living there, but it turns into a "pro" for the compo.
You could have cropped the bit of truck (?) on the left side, and just a bit less saturation?
Greetings

Very similar to previous post, Farhat, and yet another colorful wooden house.
RR tracks along the dusty road, tells about life over there.
Also, I think you might had wait till the truck/car/lorry on left would have past - and avoide the extra dust appear on image's.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Bonjour Farhat,
J'ignore si c'est une illusion d'optique mais je trouve les couleurs de la maison un brin trop saturées, mais le point de vue est superbe et utilise bien le ciel comme arrière plan.
Amicalement

another good image of these wooden houses with its wonderful artistic handicrafts and its chromatic power, which you offer us in an efficient framing under a dynamic perspective.
I like the good light and the vivid colors of the house and of the landscape of its surroundings.

Hola Farhat,
Another interesting note for a so colored house, so close of the rail did they work still?
Just a tip, I would crop the left side to delete the part of the green van

Hi Farhat,
The trees are framing well the house. The point of view is showing a double perspective of the architecture of the house. The light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Farhat,
Now that's one colorful house! It looks out of place, but I imagine it fits right in with the region and people, yes? :) Is that a set of train tracks in front? This could easily be mistaken for a station, especially due to its size. Regardless, it really is a beautiful display of color and design, contrasted so well by the surrounding hillside landscape...feels very remote. Thanks for sharing the view, along with some great notes about the area. Have a great day.
All the best,
Jason
