Photographer's Note

DARJEELING HOUSES - I (IMAGES OF HOUSES FROM DARJEELING - FIRST IN A SERIES OF 5 IMAGES).

I still got a lot of photographs from my Darjeeling days to showcase and present to my friends to acquaint them with the different aspects of life in this North Bengal Hill-Station.Here I wish to show the different low cost houses which are mainly built with " Dhuppi"(Japanese Cedar),tin and minimum of brick work.The exterior walls of wood or tin are painted with bright colors and look very attractive.I shall be uploading four more photographs of these houses in days to come to give a fair idea of what kind of houses you will see once you visit Darjeeling in one of your next trips to Eastern India.Hope you get to like this series too like my previous series on Darjeeling.

Very beautiful composition with this charming house, typical of the region, surrounded by a wonderful vegetation, ideal as the house is decorated with many flowers. Superb color.
Very good brightness and optimum sharpness.

Hello Farhat,
The house looks simple but quite cosy, and the setting couldn't be better, A nice garden and a chance of watching the "toy train" passing by a few times every day. The colours are wonderfully saturated.

Looks like this house have a beautiful view but is that railroad tracks still in use? That would be very noisy. Great pov and dof with sharp details. Wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

The friendly, small, white house on the railroad tracks. Cottage is not rich, but very nice and well maintained and situated in the beautiful surroundings. Wonderful colors and outstanding quality photographs.

Hi Farhat,

You're capturing well this place by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the lovely house built on slope and surrounding greenery. It's impressive in the colorful flowers attached to the veranda, too. And, it's interesting to hear that this house is made by the cedar tree and brick.

It is a very good idea to show to us some typical houses of Darjeeling. This one is built in beautiful natural surrounding. It looks great due to the good architectural design and nice decoration with ornamental plants. The lower point of view made an interesting composition and favorable angle of capturing. Excellent job!

A nice little home here, Farhat, and a very informative note. Amazing to see the railroad track in front, presumably not still active? And it looks like you're getting a rather quizzical look from the man going into what I assume is an outhouse here! One can only imagine what he thought you were taking a picture of!

Stunning location to build a house by a railroad track; I can imagine the dishes rattle in cupboards!!
And despite the isolated aspect, it's still very pretty due to surrounding greenery and flowers pots.

Excelent photo. The perfectly lighted house is the main focal point of this photo. There is a great use of depth of field to hold the viewer in the foreground flowers with house as well as green trees and blue sky in BG, and the excellent lighting conditions have allowed for very good color saturation. The overall impact is very strong. Very well done.

A very nice place for live alone the train can care for for a little bit sound.
You took this image out iof a low angle, this is nice.
Composition and colors make these picture lovely.

This particular house is very sweet with its flowers on the verandah. It reminds me a little of the old weekender my mother grew up in here in Australia. A lovely series on the houses here.

this is a nice house and looks well taken care of but what's really attractive and delightful is the setting it lies in. Your upward point of view exalts the lovely greenery around the house and includes in the frame a good slice of the wonderful blue sky. I like very much the vividness of the light and colours. The young man looking towards you from the house adds interest and provides a point of reference for the viewer. Congratulations and thank you!
