Photographer’s Note
These are pashmina (cashmere) shawls in a shop in Darjeeling wrapped in plastic bags for protection. When a shopkeeper quickly unwraps several of them, a customer either buys some or feels guilty knowing that the shopkeeper has to fold all unsold shawls perfectly to return them to these piles.
