Childhood Revisited : While on a visit to the Millennium Park on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River in Western Calcutta, I came across this small boy sitting within the Globe Ring and gazing at the bright blue sky and enjoying his life upto the brim.I too had a feeling of my childhood revisiting me again and the hidden desire to be on the globe myself. But then I was reminded of Shakespeare and his definition of life divided into seven stages :
All the World's a Stage
All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first, the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.
Then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lined,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slippered pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side;
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank, and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.
I wish all of us could reinvent the child within us and feel the pleasures of life as we did in our childhood. But one thing is for sure that we certainly do experience when we are very old and frail and that is when probably the sweet childhood revisits us .

This is a well captured moment of great serenity. It is a very nicely composed photo with the globe and the boy seen between the branches. It's to my mind only the lamppost that slightly disturbs the balance and harmony of the photo. Generally though this is a great shot with good light and colours.

J'aime bien cette contre plongée qui utilise le ciel comme arrière plan, ce qui donne le plus beau des résultats pour mettre en évidence cette très belle sculpture.

A very interesting idea for a shot, not only the strange shaped object, but also the fact that the child is in silhouette adding to the mystery. The body language seems to show that the kid is looking off into the distance, deep in thought and maes us wonder what is going through his mind. Great execution on this.

a very effective composition that isolates the boy from the ground and seems to tell a story and describe a specific mood. The way he is sitting alone up there looking intensely at something on the ground is very intriguing and can imply various things. I like very much how he and the structure he's sitting on are outlined against a lovely, bright sky and how the branches create a partial, protective frame. A very intriguing image, congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,

After my vacation and some problems with my internet connection, I'm finally active again in these pages.
Very nice composition with that guy, who seems to be in a moment of reverie, with that beautiful sky, framed by the beautiful frame of the branches of that tree.
Splendid execution and very rewarding outcome.
Sensational both the brightness and clarity, a delight this beautiful color.
I wish you a happy weekend.

nice the snapshot with the little boy to seat on the metallic and see through sphere.I like the well chosen POV as the way that the sphere outline against the sky.

This is great, I can remember these as well from my childhood...although I never quite understood the design, I mean, frankly...it's kind of a safety hazard!? :) None the less, this has turned out to be a very pleasing scene. Although it may not be the standard black & white, it still holds a lot of graphic appeal. Beautiful blues in the sky too, an agreeable image, well done. Have a nice day.
All the best,

Hello Farhat, you have captured a special moment very well with the globe nicely framed by the branches in a fine composition.
The note echoes the sentiments of many of us I believe.
A really well presented photo that strikes a pleasing chord.
Best wishes Les.

The tree is helping to frame the game. The presence of the Young boy is giving life to the scene. The point of view is showing the details and colours of the metal game. The good luminosity is enhancing the colours. Have a nice day.

Une bien jolie note, merci et bravo
J'aime le contre plongé, la présence de la personne sur cette structure métallique joliment cadre par le feuillages, belle lumière et un ciel superbe, compliment

You're capturing well this daily life surrounded to the nature by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see showing the deep psyche that the boy is gazing at the future world purely. The boy is sitting within globe ring with unique shape and watching the external world. It's effective for blue sky with white cloud and fresh leaves which droop upwards, too.
mcmtanyel (16001) 2013-07-07 19:38
Excellent capture of a contemplative moment! I like your framing and color management.

Sorry for being late again Farhat.
When I was about that age I climbed sometimes to trees and imagine I could fly as a bird!!
The ring design looks quite attractive and so surrounded of greenery it composes an original and much attractive tableau deprived of modern artifact for an intense illusion of "way back then" depicted artfully.

Embrace the child within - he is wiser than you know.
mirosu (15156) 2013-07-13 0:58
Excellent detail photo with very nice colors, perfect light, very good clarity. Superb view up. Excellent exposing for the sky has nicely captured the colors of the sky and made a good silhouette of the Globe Ring and the boy. Greetings, Miro

This is a really great picture of the child wondering about life and the world within the globe climbing frame !
The photo is just perfect, with the lovely sky, the roofs in the distance and the frame created by the branches !
Thanks for adding the well adapted tirade from Shakespeare's "As you like it", and congratulations for your literary knowledge.
marina7 (8055) 2013-07-31 8:57
lovely capture, the boy and his little spaceship ready to take off:) Very beautiful sky and framing with the trees. A dream provoking image indeed:)
Have a good time!

This is a tremendous image for many reasons -- the interesting globe, the pensive figure, the good green and blue color composition! -- but man, you have really done the sky quite well!
Also -- one can never go wrong with Shakespeare. Was the "Globe[Theater]" connection here conscious, or accidental? :-)
