Photographer’s Note

Calcutta or Kolkata as it is known in India, is an amazing, if not crazy place. Horrible air pollution, yet fabulously interesting in inumerable ways! Just walking around and getting lost in the streets always turns up tons of photo opportunities. Taken downtown just off of a busy street, this young lad mugs for the camera. I am pretty sure he is cooking samosas. He put on a great show for me!

Interesting photo there of the place, I always love to visit kolkata though haven't been able to do so. I love your picture also the environment and the character of the place is very well depicted. BTW I also uploaded a similar theme of picture of a Dhaba boy a little while ago.

Hi Steve,
He gives you a great pose indeed, what I also like is the expression of the guy watching him amd the guy peeping his head through from the store next door. Good saturated colours and splendid details to look at everywhere.

Steve: the young pakara wallah is having a little fun and your expense which isn't altogether unfair in exchange for this fine image. Great light on the left of your frame. I like your vignette into Calcutta's dhabas... c

Hello Steve,
A nice picture with lots of interesting details, typical of this kind of Indian little establishment. Fine light and colours in the left two thirds of the picture. Maybe you could have considered cropping it a bit to the right.
I recently returned from Calcutta myself. A fantastic city with so much to watch.
