Photographer's Note

Bonkathi is a village near Santiniketan.
In West Bengal most of the villages are no longer as beautiful as they used to be some fifteen twenty years back. The reason behind might be that the economic standard has improved in case of most of the villages.Villagers are trying to copy the urban culture, they hate to stay in mud houses(which i believe is quite natural). But the kind of houses they make, serve their purpose but lacks where aesthetics is concerned.
Bonkathi is still an exception. One can find the flavours of the village life of Bengal as it was to be earlier. There are also some beautiful terracota temples(300yrs old) in this village.
