This historical building is situated in Bishnupur, also known as 'the city of temples'. Bishnupur is in the Bankura district of the state of West Bengal, India.
This pyramidal architectural building has Islamic architectural style as well, and was build in the time of the Malla king, Vir Humbir, in AD 1587. The Malla kings were the worshipers of Lord Krishna. During the Ras festival, all the Radha-Krishna idols of Bishnupur used to be brought here to be worshiped by the citizen. This tradition had continued till 1932.
This oldest brick temple in Bishnupur, is a protected monument, and no longer a temple. It is, now, taken care by the Archeological Survey of India.
