Photographer’s Note
My salute goes to thee: Goddess Doorga - Mother Durga. She has ten hands - she will kill all evils. She is worshiped three days in a year. The tribals are no exception.
This one is in a village called "Shanti-Niketan" (Peace - abode) where Tagore built his university; abode of art, culture and knowledge.
Shanti-Niketan: Home of two Nobel Laureates. Tagore (Literature) followed by Sen (Economics).
Artists are all around in Shanti-Niketan.
This is a jungle in near the village, by a little river. Rough but beautiful during day.
And mystic in the night.
Every year an artist builds the idol with different materials, very innovative. This one is with wood.
Unlike the clay idols, this one is preserved for a year and then, I heard, is sent to museums.
