This is a snap of Durga immersion at Dashami (The thenth phase of Moon) in river Ichhamati at Bashirhat. This is the place where Sundarban starts.
Durga puja organizer of a vast area of dist. North 24 Parganas bring there Durga idol to the bank of Ichhamati. Then the idol to be taken on two boats. After a long ride with the goddess the two boats separates and the Durga idol goes into the river water forever.
Unlike other part of India in West Bengal Durga idols are made by completely natural elements like bamboo, clay, natural colors etc. Immersion of Durga Idols in river is a symbolism of, everything stars and ends in nature.

Excellent shot against the light, where the boats with many people abouard add a very graphycal pattern

Great shot with lovely capture of counter-light, making brilliant silhouettes on the water. I love the deep dark tones, too. One of the day's best shots, if you ask me. Thanks for sharing.
